About Me

First I would like to say a big ‘thank you’ for stopping by my site. To tell you a little about myself: I am an Army ‘brat,’ born in Frankfurt, Germany. I have lived in Heidelberg, Germany; Missouri, Texas, New York, Kansas and Oklahoma. Growing up I participated in sports, community organizations and theatre. I always had a passion for writing. One of my earliest memories as a kid, was when we were in Germany, there were two channels in English so we started collecting Disney movies and my love for languages and writing soon began. Although I am not fluent, I have taken German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese and am a few classes shy of receiving my minors in French.

I believe that moving and having a passion for other languages has helped me become cultured and diverse. I have a deep appreciation for everyone I meet. I believe everyone has a story and I want to know what that is. I enjoy making connections and networking to build relationships that will last a lifetime.

I have learned that stories are not just used for the news, but for entertainment as well and the audience will consume as much media as possible if delivered properly. Great stories require thinking about the topic from every aspect. You not only need to know the basics of a story, but making it personal to your audience will let the viewer know how a story could affect them. My experience offers me the unique ability to see stories from this mind set.

My knowledge of multimedia sets me apart from traditional reporters who are trained in one area. This enables me to combine valuable skills to produce quality content.

I am a Shocker and when I stepped through the doors at Wichita State University, a new world of communication and journalism was introduced to me. I began writing for the university's student newspaper, the Sunflower, holding the Greek beat (I was in the Alpha Phi Fraternity, Gamma Xi Chapter).  I also reported and anchored for Studio B, a student run newscast and interned at KAKE TV, an ABC affiliate.

When I am not writing I am more than likely fighting for the rights of the LGBT community.

In my spare time I love to travel, camp, work out, volunteer, cook, play with my dogs, dance, and what girl doesn’t love to shop every now and again. :)
